Our growth into Christ’s likeness is not solely for our own benefit, but we believe that it should affect every aspect of our lives, including our work in the community. We are always discerning ways to serve our community.
Our church is a proud member of the Advocate BroMenn Delegate Church Association. We partner with Advocate BroMenn Health Center by praying for a specific area of the hospital’s work each year, and contributing in other ways as requested. We prayed for the Emergency Department throughout 2019, and are praying for the Critical Care Unit in 2020.
We partner with Abundant Life in Christ Church in various ways throughout the year, and especially around the holidays to help provide gifts to members of their church and those they serve who will not otherwise receive gifts at Christmas.
In partnership with our missionaries in Basque Country (northeastern Spain and southwestern France) we host summer exchange students from Basque Country, as do many other churches in our denomination. The students participate in many cross cultural activities and practice their English, but are also invited into the lives of Christian families, church communities, and attend a week of Miracle Camp in Michigan to hear and experience the gospel.
We host Art Circle of Bloomington-Normal on the second Thursday of the month for their monthly meetings. We see our partnership with Art Circle as a small act of patronage, contributing to the flourishing of both the artists and our community.
During the summer we host the Alpha Course, an opportunity for new believers and those considering God, Jesus, and faith to have honest conversations about what they know and what they think, and to ask any questions that arise, without judgment. Plus, we serve great food!
