We cultivate a community garden that serves both the members of our church and our community, especially by donating hundreds of pounds of fresh vegetables to those serving the food insecure in Bloomington-Normal, such as the Safe Harbor Shelter and the St. Vincent de Paul food bank.
Current Garden News:
MAY 13, 2020: Remember the old childhood game King of the Mountain? A mountain of mulch was delivered and not only are we set for the season but the children love playing on it! We planted 150 tomatoes and about 30 assorted pepper plants, so pray for heat!
Please do not pick the poppies ( they will not live in a vase!). Also please do not pick the irises, peonies or rhubarb which are all first year perennials and need to be allowed to establish themselves until at least next year!
Some Guidelines for Visiting our Garden:
- If you attend Jacob’s Well, please pick what you wish to feed your family!
- If you’re a neighbor or a member of the community, please enjoy a walk through the garden and help yourself to a handful of vegetables as a reminder of God’s bounty and your visit to our church garden.
- Please leave the pumpkins for our children to enjoy. Thank you!
- We’re glad to have visitors to our garden! Please come often, and join us for worship on a Sunday morning at 10:30!
